AP exams prior to High School

IUSD students in grades 7 or 8, who are not concurrently enrolled in an IUSD AP course, must receive approval from the AP Exam Early Access Exam Committee before registering for an exam at any IUSD High School.

Each 7th and 8th grade student interested in taking an exam in IUSD will be carefully considered by our committee. The purpose of this committee is to determine if there is a compelling rationale for the student to be provided access to the exam early and outside of typical student pathways. For most IUSD students, taking AP exams during high school provides sufficient access. Due to space limitations priority for open seats will begin with seniors, then juniors, then sophomores, and lastly, freshmen. Please note, this process is only open to students currently enrolled in an IUSD school.

The committee will consider the following:
Student transcript information
Previous testing results (if available)
Student interview responses (if needed)
High School pathways

For further information regarding the AP Exam Early Access process, please email ConnieJacobs@iusd.org and VictoriaVosbigian@iusd.org. All other AP inquiries should be directed to the high schools linked above after reviewing their websites.
