Is your middle or high school child looking for a dynamic and supportive learning opportunity to help them develop the skills and mindset necessary for success in college, career and life? The AVID elective might be the right fit!
Although AVID is open to all secondary students on school sites with AVID, it includes a recruitment process to ensure that the elective supports students who would benefit most from its college, career, and life-readiness focus. AVID recruitment will begin in early 2026, during which the AVID Site Team will identify students who may be well-suited for this supportive elective course. Students who are interested in AVID are also encouraged to reach out to their AVID Site Coordinator during this time.

About the AVID Elective
AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a college prep and career and life readiness elective course that empowers students by equipping them with essential strategies for academic, career and life success, such as collaboration, critical thinking, effective communication, organization and time management.
AVID Elective students:
- Enroll in Advanced Placement (AP®), honors, dual enrollment, and CTE courses, and may pursue the Seal of Biliteracy
- Participate in small-group sessions to deepen understanding of challenging subjects
- Build college and career knowledge and explore future opportunities
