Substitute Teaching Employment Process

Applications for substitute teachers are accepted only when posted on our employment Opportunities page AND ON EDJOIN.ORG.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ hires substitute teachers from August through February of each school year. Please visit Edjoin.org/IUSD for all available positions in our district.

The Daily Sub rate is $180/full day (anything over 4 hours) and $95/half day (anything under 4 hours). The long term rate is $220/day and goes into effect on the 16th consecutive day in the same assignment.

The application process for substitute teaching positions with the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is outlined below. We require a completed application and all supporting materials be submitted on Edjoin before consideration for your candidacy.

  • If you meet our minimum requirements, we will invite you to a hiring orientation.

If you need to obtain an Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit, the easiest way to acquire one is to contact the to apply for your permit.

What are the requirements for the 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit?

  • Bachelor’s Degree earned 
  • met - Senate Bill 153 allows the Basic Skills Requirement to be met by a bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
