Through this pathway, students will gain hands-on experience in the art and business of film, television, and digital media production. From concept development to final editing, students will learn the entire production process while developing skills in storytelling, cinematography, directing, producing, and post-production. This pathway equips students with the technical expertise, creative vision, and leadership skills necessary for success in the fast-paced world of media and entertainment.

Art of TV/Film and Advanced Video: Students participate in work-based learning opportunities through industry connections, such as the Orange County Film Festival. With over 700 people in attendance, the OCFF has become a widely anticipated event in Southern California that has received recognition nationwide.

Broadcast News: Students create weekly or bi-monthly broadcasts throughout the school year. Broadcast segments include promotions of on-campus events, student recognitions, current news on campus and around the City of Irvine.

Technical Theater: Students learn stage and set design, set construction, sound and lighting engineering, and theater management. Teamwork, creativity and problem solving skills will be enhanced as they prepare for stage productions at your school and showcase your theater crew's work at competitions.

Video Production: From writing a script to shooting and editing film, student teams work together on a variety of projects to create professional-quality videos. They develop technical skills by operating industry-standard equipment and editing software.

Coastline ROP (Regional Occupation Program): Through our partnership with Coastline ROP, IUSD offers expanded CTE course options after school, such as Crime Scene Investigation (CSI), Pharmacy Technician, Robotics, Retail Sales, and Sports Medicine. These programs include internships to learn career skills and real-world experience that further career and education goals. For more information, see your counselor or visit coastlinerop.org.

Orange County Film Festival: Students in the advanced video and TV/Film courses have opportunities to participate in a variety of regional events to showcase their work.

Post Secondary Education: See your Counselor or the ROP Coordinator for more information about post-secondary options in this pathway.
