In the Marketing, Sales & Service pathway, students replicate all the functions of real businesses in both structure and practice. Students will work in different departments, including Communications, Technology, Accounting, Sales, Marketing and Human Resources, to learn hands-on and tangible skills for future careers in business, marketing and sales.

Introduction to Business & Entrepreneurship: This course teaches students the fundamental principles of business operations, marketing, management, finance, and economics, with a specific focus on recognizing opportunities, creating a business plan, and understanding the processes involved in starting and operating a small business.

Virtual Enterprise: Virtual Enterprise replicates all the functions of a real business, with students working in departments such as Communications, Technology, Accounting, Sales, Marketing, and Human Resources. Students gain experience in areas like financial management, marketing campaigns, sales strategies, web development, event planning, and employee relations. A highlight of the program is the Virtual Enterprise trade shows, where students showcase business plans, marketing strategies, and HR manuals while competing with peers across the state and receiving feedback from industry professionals.

This program is offered at Irvine High School, and University High School.

Virtual Enterprise International (VEI): transforms students into business professionals by bringing the workplace into the classroom.

Coastline ROP (Regional Occupation Program): Through our partnership with Coastline ROP, IUSD offers expanded CTE course options after school, such as Crime Scene Investigation (CSI), Pharmacy Technician, Robotics, Retail Sales, and Sports Medicine. These programs include internships to learn career skills and real-world experience that further career and education goals. For more information, see your counselor or visit coastlinerop.org.

Post Secondary Education: See your Counselor or the ROP Coordinator for more information about post-secondary options in the Entrepreneurship and Business Pathways.
