BOARD POLICY - 5116
The Board of Education believes each family in the district should have the opportunity to be served in a school within reasonable proximity of their residence; therefore, families in any given attendance area shall be given priority to enroll their children in their assigned school. In order to maximize learning for all IUSD students, the Board shall establish school attendance boundaries that balance enrollment, enable the equitable distribution of resources and allow for the most effective use of district facilities.
To alleviate overcrowding, the Superintendent or designee may place some students in a school outside of their attendance area. Parents/legal guardians of students who are attending schools outside of their attendance area or are affected by an approved attendance boundary change shall be notified of the school their child will be attending in a timely manner.
